Senior Site Agent
We are recruiting for a Site Agent to join us here at Octavius.
We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.
You'll be working on….
A road improvement scheme in Newhaven, East Sussex, taking overall responsibility for site delivery and supporting the successful coordination of the project from start to completion.
You'll play a leading role in overseeing day-to-day operations on site, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on programme and to the highest quality standards. This includes leading Site Agents, Engineers and subcontractors, coordinating resources, and maintaining strong relationships with the local authority and wider stakeholders.
You'll take ownership of planning and programming works, reviewing and challenging delivery strategies, managing traffic-sensitive activities, and ensuring minimal disruption to the local community — while driving performance across safety, quality and commercial outcomes.

About you….
You're an experienced and confident Senior Site Agent (or an established Site Agent ready to step up) with a strong background in civil engineering and highways.
You're comfortable leading multiple workstreams or complex schemes, overseeing site teams and engaging at a senior level with clients such as local authorities. You take pride in delivering projects safely and to a high standard, while maintaining strong control over programme and commercial performance.
You're proactive, organised and solutions-focused, with the ability to lead, influence and bring people together to achieve successful outcomes.
You'll bring…

Experience delivering highways or civil engineering projects, ideally for local authorities.

Proven ability to lead site teams and coordinate multiple workstreams or complex packages of work.

Strong understanding of site management, programme delivery, and subcontract coordination.

Knowledge of working in live environments with traffic management constraints.

Familiarity with NEC contracts, HSEQ standards, commercial controls and quality processes.

HNC/Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent experience).

SMSTS and CSCS Manager card.

Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
