Commercial Legal Lead (0771)

We are recruiting for a Commercial Legal Lead to join us here at Octavius, reporting into the Group Financial Controller.

We are a leading civil engineering organisation delivering safe, sustainable, and efficient transport solutions across the UK.

You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)

• To oversee, manage and provide internal advice on the business's requirement for bonds, parent company guarantees (PCGs), collateral warranties, non-disclosure agreements (NDAs), property transactions and other legal matters, seeking support from external legal advice where required.
• Suitable for an individual with a commercial or legal background in contracts and preferably the construction industry.
• The role will put you at the forefront of the business's legal work, managing processes, ensuring accurate reporting to various parties, liaising with both predelivery and delivery teams to understand project requirements and liaising with external solicitors as appropriate.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills allowing engagement with the wide range of individuals within the construction industry.
• High level of attention to detail.
• Organised and able to prioritise competing demands from the business.
• Highly proficient with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of products and able to learn / utilise other software packages as appropriate.
• Tenacious and able to make their voice heard when necessary.

You'll bring… (your wealth of experience & qualifications)

• A solid understanding of contract law supported by industry recognised qualification – this may suit a Paralegal or someone from a Commercial Construction background with a solid understanding of contracts.
• Demonstrate a good understanding of the construction industry and the construction process link.
