Commercial Lead
We are recruiting for a Commercial Lead to join us here at Navitas Engineering in either our London or Glasgow office.
Navitas Engineering is a growing multidisciplinary engineering consultancy and part of Octavius and the RSK Group, one of the world's leading integrated environmental, engineering and technical services businesses.
We provide engineering design, consultancy, technical assurance and specialist advisory services across the rail, energy and wider infrastructure sectors. Working with infrastructure owners, operators, contractors and consultancies, we help our clients deliver safe, sustainable and high-performing engineering solutions throughout the entire asset lifecycle.
You'll be working on…. (what your role and responsibility is)
As our Commercial Lead, you'll play a key role in supporting the delivery and continuous improvement of commercial activities across the business. Working closely with the Head of Operations and Leadership Team, you'll help ensure commercial processes, controls and reporting are applied consistently while supporting project teams to maximise commercial performance and manage risk.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the commercial management of bids, tenders, proposals and contract reviews.
- Preparing and reviewing pricing submissions, fee proposals and commercial documentation.
- Monitoring project commercial performance, including revenue, margins, forecasting, variations and recovery opportunities.
- Identifying commercial risks and opportunities and ensuring appropriate escalation where required.
- Producing commercial reports, dashboards and analysis to support business decision-making.
- Maintaining commercial records, trackers, approvals and supporting documentation.
- Supporting contract negotiations and commercial discussions with clients, suppliers and delivery partners.
- Coordinating commercial processes, tools and governance requirements across the business.
- Contributing to the development of scalable commercial systems, controls and best practices.
- Promoting commercial awareness and supporting project and engineering teams in understanding contractual and commercial obligations.
A team of highly motivated, dedicated professionals delivering engineering consultancy services across the rail, energy and wider infrastructure sectors.
You'll work closely with project managers, engineers, finance teams, operational leaders and business stakeholders to help drive commercial performance and support successful project delivery. You'll also engage with clients, suppliers, delivery partners and framework organisations to support positive commercial outcomes and strong working relationships.

- A degree, professional qualification or equivalent experience in commercial management, quantity surveying, contract management, finance, business, project management or a related discipline.
- Experience in a commercial, contract, project controls, finance or business support role, ideally within an engineering, consultancy, infrastructure or construction environment.
- Experience supporting bids, tenders, pricing exercises and proposal development.
- Knowledge of contract review processes and the ability to identify contractual obligations, risks and matters requiring escalation.
- Experience supporting project commercial controls, forecasting, revenue and margin management.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to identify trends, risks and opportunities.
- Experience developing reports, dashboards and commercial management information.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency across Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience maintaining commercial records, trackers, approvals and governance documentation.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and contribute to a collaborative culture.
Desirable experience includes:
- Experience within the rail, energy, infrastructure, engineering consultancy or construction sectors.
- Familiarity with consultancy and professional services contracts.
- Experience supporting contract negotiations and commercial discussions.
- Knowledge of change control, variations, purchase orders, invoicing and payment processes.
- Experience supporting forecasting, work-in-progress reviews and financial reporting.
- Experience developing commercial procedures, templates, dashboards or reporting tools.
- Awareness of delegated authority frameworks and commercial governance requirements.
- Membership of, or progress towards membership of, a relevant professional body.
